Ciutadella, is the island's old religious capital. This beautiful and picturesque town is steeped in history, so it's a great place for mixing numerous sightseeing opportunities with many visits to the many sandy coves situated nearby. The heart of the town is the atmospheric quayside lined with good fish restaurants, and elsewhere, you'll find old forts, mansions, museums and palm-lined squares. There are plenty of shops to explore and browse around, and at dusk, you've planty of chances to witness the wonderful sunsets over the harbour as well as check out the good nightspots. On the 23 June each year, the town stages a colourful horseback parade. Cala Santandia just to the north shares some resort facilities with nearby Cala Blanca yet retains its own charm and individuality centred around the cove.
